PROJECT DESCRIPTION
RDLR Architects developed a design to replace the existing stage for the Harmony in the Air program at Hobby Airport and provide storage space for the musician’s instruments. The stage design required a high-quality portable platform with signage, landscape feature, and AV integration. An adjacent storage room was modified for storage of instruments.

The size of the stage maintains circulation of the concourse and visibility for wayfinding. Due to the location of the site being in the main airport concourse, the design considers off site fabrication off site to minimize closure of the area during construction. A solution was provided to modify existing lighting to an adjustable multi-head fixture to enhance the existing lighting conditions.

The stage integrates custom designed planters that would surround the stage and are designed in removable sections to allow for removal if needed.  Secure and concealed AV equipment was designed to be integrated into the planters. New wayfinding signage enhances the stage as a focal point, while still meeting requirements of the airport.
