PROJECT DESCRIPTION
RDLR Architects created a program to replace the existing sliding glass doors at the departures level entrance to the terminal, create an airlock due to problems with air infiltration in the terminal, and improve the existing entrance.

The current size of the vestibule caused the interior doors to remain open and the airlock could not be maintained. The high traffic demand at this entrance required a deeper vestibule then the standard size. Existing walls of the vestibule required repair and refinishing due to high traffic use of passengers with luggage.

To enlarge the vestibule, enlarging towards the interior was the only option and would need to consider existing adjacent restroom entrances and adjacent mailbox and ATM.

The high traffic use of the vestibule has led to door maintenance issues. To resolve this, a maintenance package through the manufacture will be provided. Being the only exterior entrance for the terminal, construction sequencing will need to allow the entrance to remain in operation through construction. Therefor the work will be done by closing 50% of the entrance at a time.
