PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The recently completed Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center occupies a 2.5-acre site alongside the Westpark transit corridor. The facility serves as the southern terminus of the Uptown Management District and METRO’s jointly developed Uptown Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, METRORapid, Houston's first bus rapid transit line. The new METRORapid Silver Line brings expedited service to the Uptown area by providing transit connections to local and express bus routes as well as while providing for high-capacity transit development in the Westpark Corridor.

The new Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center facility is unique among METRO’s transit facilities in that it vertically integrates multiple transit platforms and bus typologies with public parking in a three-level structure. The ground floor of the structure is dedicated to BRT and local bus services while the second level provides 239 spaces of public parking. The third level, which is connected by a bridge to the US-59 HOV lane, is dedicated to Express bus services serving Downtown, the Medical Center and suburban Park and Rides.

The transit facilities are organized around a central light well connecting the three levels with a grand stair and a system of high-speed elevators linking the levels. At-grade accessible parking and covered bicycle storage are provided as transit amities at the facility.
