RDLR Architects' First Annual Fundraiser Raises Over $30,000 for Finca Tres Robles, Empowering Community Growth in Houston’s East End

We are excited to share that the first annual RDLR Architects fundraiser, co-hosted with Tellepsen, was a tremendous success, raising over $30,000 in support of Finca Tres Robles! Held at Joystix in downtown Houston, the event was filled with fun, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of community. We are incredibly grateful to our generous sponsors, attendees, and everyone who helped make this night both possible and impactful for a cause that means so much to the East End.

Finca Tres Robles, a remarkable community farm and grocer founded in 2014 by Small Places, is dedicated to providing organic, fresh produce to the Second Ward, historically a food desert. Serving up to 150 families weekly through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares, weekend farm stands, and direct distribution to food-insecure households, Finca Tres Robles is a vital lifeline for the community. Their ongoing partnership with El Centro de Corazón helps ensure the neighborhood’s food security needs are met with care and consistency.

In a significant milestone, Finca Tres Robles recently secured a permanent 1.5-acre home near its original site, thanks to a partnership with Harris County Precinct 2, Commissioner Adrian Garcia, and the Harris County Engineering Department. Designed by RDLR Architects, the upcoming 6,200-square-foot facility will feature a grocery store, events pavilion, teaching kitchen, and produce processing areas, while a half-acre field will continue supporting their organic farming practices.

With this new location, Finca Tres Robles will be able to triple its impact, providing fresh produce to 450 households and expanding its services to the community. The grocery store will offer a broader variety of essential foods, and the teaching kitchen will empower residents with hands-on cooking skills. The site’s design will not only enhance Finca Tres Robles’ capacity to serve more people but also create a community hub that connects surrounding neighborhoods, enriching the lives of those in Heartwood, the nearby mixed-use development, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and local families.

Expected for completion in early 2024, this project showcases the power of community and collaboration. We couldn’t have reached this level of success without the incredible support of our attendees and sponsors. Together, we are ensuring that Finca Tres Robles continues to thrive in its mission to bring health, sustenance, and hope to the East End. Thank you for being part of this journey!
