BUILDING AREA
9 Acre Site

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The housing project on Galveston Island is a project which takes a nine-acre site which previously contained a economically and functionally obsolete apartment complex and redevelops it into a new neighborhood offering affordable housing to first-time home buyers. The six-million dollar project which uses a unique mix of public funds, leveraged with private contributions, should serve as a catalyst to revitalize a blighted area of the city.

The new homes in the development are designed to be compact while creating usable and functional living spaces. The structure’s style, with high ceilings and elongated windows is reminiscent of the historic island homes, yet they utilize modern materials selected for their low maintenance qualities.
